By Ms Beecham's Grade 6 Class Ms. Beecham's class made Canadian Collages with artifacts from Canada. Students collected miscellaneous things from home and school to complete their placemats. All artifacts put on the collage have some relevance to Canadian culture and every day life.
In my Canadian artifact place mat, I put 14 things in it. The most important artifact on my place mat is the leaf because on the flag there is a picture of a leaf. There are other things that represent Canada like a picture of Aboriginals because Native Indians were the first people to live on or discover Canada. They also gave Canada its name. There are other artifacts I put on my place mat like bears and the reason I put bear was because in the wilderness there are a lot of bears. I put newspapers on that has our newspaper name on it like Toronto star. I put some coins on with animals on them that represent Canada. -Paven

I designed this place mat especially for Friends and Flags and the scene is about Canada. The back ground is the national flag of Canada. All the artifacts on it are just a decoration and influences Canadian life and what we do. It also introduces many items of Canada which give other people a view of Canada and how great it is. Last of all, I put on some Canadian money because money is an important part of our economy and different places have different kinds of money. I would think that money would give a different perspective of Canada to the people around the world. -Jackie
I chose these artifacts to be placed on my place mat because some of the items were representing Canada. Others were manufactured here, and or written in English and French, (our official languages.) In the place mat, there are also some pictures of animals, like the beaver that are found in Canada. Some of the pictures are the things we do to fund raise for the cure of cancer. -Donna
In my place mat, I put many things that has to do with Canada. For example, I put the Canadian five dollar bill, ten dollar bill and the one hundred dollar bill because the money can only be used in Canada. Also, I put a picture of Niagara Falls for a special reason. It is because Niagara Falls is one of the seven wonders in the world. -Tatianna
I chose these things to be on my place mat because they are all things made in Canada or have to do with Canada. There are some pictures of our beautiful country. There are also some food labels that are made here. There is also a silver and black beer label and beer is a big thing in Canada. Did you know that on every label there is French written on the other side! This is because French is one of our national languages. I hope you like my place mat! -Nadia |
